DIY Wine Bottle Scarecrows

These adorable scarecrows are perfect as gifts and home decor, not to mention so easy to make. Who doesn't love to scarf down a huge bottle of wine after work and then turn it into something as easy as this. Don't waste all your money buying gifts for the holidays on family and friends you might not see that often. Turn your bad habits into a great gift.

To make these scarecrows, you need....

1. An empty wine bottle with all labels soaked off

2. Paint (I use black and white, then a different color for the nose)

3. Ribbon for the "Flannel" and the hat

4. Straw cut small

5. A fake flower of your choice

6. A beige spray paint

7. And of course, a button to tie it all together

1. Start with the bare and empty wine bottle. Spray paint it with your choice in color for the body. Let this dry over night so the hot glue sticks easily.

2. I always start with the straw once the bottle is dry. Hot glue it around the back of the bottle, I just put a small line of hot glue on the neck of the bottle and stick the straw in chunks trying not to touch it with your fingers.

3. Next step, the hat and the ribbon. I just glue it all together in the back since thats not the part you will be seeing, but still keep in neat. Add the bow and the ribbon, hot glueing it on.

4. Now comes the paint. I leave the seam of the wine bottle for the center of the face so I know exactly where the lines should go to make it straight down. Although, try to start with the eyes. Everyones painting technique will vary and you'll figure out which method works for you.

5. Lastly, don't forget to add the flower and button, tying the whole guy together. I also like to add little # parts on the side of him to make it look like stitching.

This seems like a lot but I swear everyone will love them.

I hope you guys enjoy making these little guys and love to give them away. Keep an eye out for some blogs on how to make Christmas character wine bottles too!!
